Sarasota, FL – Each year, several local high school seniors who want to pursue a career in the healthcare industry get some financial help from the Auxiliary of Doctors Hospital of Sarasota. Since the hospital first opened in 1967, the non-profit group has been awarding scholarships to Sarasota County high school graduates. To date they have awarded more than $1 million dollars in scholarships. The auxiliary raises the money from fundraisers, newspaper sales in the hospital lobby and donations made throughout the year. This year ten students received scholarships. They are:

Avia Davis – Booker High School attending FAMU majoring in Physical Therapy

Joshua Guaita – Homeschool attending Cedarville University majoring in Nursing

Joey Flanagan – Riverview High School attending FSU majoring in Pre-Bio Science and Nursing

Nadine Elnagaar – Riverview High School attending USF majoring in Pre-Med

Maximillian Konarzewski – Pineview School attending U of M majoring in Pre-Med

Kim Nguyen – Pineview School attending UF majoring in Nursing

Amara Wilson – Sarasota High School attending SCF majoring in Nursing

Caroline Jungels – Venice High School attending UF majoring in Bio-Med/Pre-Med

Bryana Mammana – Venice High School attending UF majoring in Physical Therapy

Melissa Whitman – Venice High School attending FGCU majoring in Nursing
