Emma Tejada has been a Girl Scout since kindergarten. This 10-year-old is also a young entrepreneur and last year was the top-selling cookie scout in Troop 32224, a chapter of Girl Scouts of West Central Florida. This year's sales have been strong for Emma as well. To show her appreciation for hospital caregivers who have been on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic for the past year, Emma and her family donated 100 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to caregivers at Doctors Hospital of Sarasota. Emma hopes the cookies brighten their day and says, “Everyone loves Girl Scout cookies.” Emma and her family are friends with Dr. Michael Schandorf, MD the Chief Medical Officer at Doctors Hospital of Sarasota. They have heard first-hand stories from Dr. Schandorf about what the pandemic has been like for local healthcare workers. Emma's mother also works at Moffitt Cancer Center and the young fourth grader has donated cookies to caregivers there too.
