Sarasota, FL – Doctors Hospital of Sarasota, an HCA West Florida hospital, recently completed an upgrade of its nationally recognized Orthopedic and Spine Institute. The renovations include significant upgrades to patient rooms and enhanced services designed to improve recovery time.
The Orthopedic and Spine Institute project is the first phase of a planned $17-million renovation, which includes expanding the emergency room and adding two state-of-the-art operating rooms to the surgical suite. These new operating rooms will complement the hospital’s robotics surgery program – the most comprehensive of its kind in southwest Florida.
“The hospital environment can make a significant impact on patient healing,” said Doctors Hospital CEO Robert Meade. “As a prominent orthopedic and spine facility, and one of only 37 hospitals in the nation using Mazor robotics technology, we see a lot of complex spinal cases. This renovation better allows us to continue providing an atmosphere that’s restorative and restful.”
The renovation project is a significant addition that will enable Doctors Hospital to continue to meet the needs of the growing I-75 corridor communities it serves. The hospital has invested heavily over the last several years to accommodate anticipated growth in demand, including creating one of the most sophisticated robotic surgery programs in the state – featuring both the Mazor Robotic technology and the da Vinci SI surgery system.
The hospital will be hosting a VIP reception for the newly renovated unit on Monday, December 8, from 5p – 7p. Media is welcome to attend. Several local physicians and hospital leadership will be available for interviews.
