Sarasota, FL — Doctors Hospital of Sarasota is celebrating the Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) Program’s significant milestone of performing its’ 500th procedure. This accomplishment was achieved in just under 3 ½ years since the inception of the program in November 2011.
PCI, also known as, heart stenting, is a lifesaving procedure used for patients experiencing a heart attack. The procedure is used to open the blocked artery and restore the blood flow to the heart muscle without open-heart surgery. Restoring the blood flow to a patient’s heart quickly is the best way to improve the outcome. By expanding our cardiovascular program in 2011, we are able to provide greater access to this life-saving procedure to our community.
To honor this accomplishment, the administrative team at Doctors Hospital will be recognizing the entire team who have contributed efforts in making the program a success. The celebration will take place in the Lido Café at Doctors Hospital on Thursday, March 19th at 1:00 pm. For additional information about our event, please contact Aimee Bennett at (941) 342-1012.
