February 1, 1967- Doctors Hospital of Sarasota officially opens at 2750 Bahia Vista Street, near Tuttle Avenue. A 30,000 square foot modern facility with 100 beds, 1 OR, ICU, Laboratory, X-ray, Pharmacy and Physical Therapy. A semi-private room was $30/day.
March 1967- Doctors Hospital invests millions of dollars in equipment to serve the growing needs of Sarasota.
August 1967 - As the hospital continues to grow, volunteers provide an important service. News articles say they provide services including flower arranging, babysitting children of visitors, running errands for patients, and direct visitors in a quiet and coureous manner.
April 1971- The community and volunteer groups support Doctors Hospital with donations of the latest medical equipment.
January 1977- Doctors Hospital doubles its size with a $3.5-million-dollar expansion. The hospital now has 168 beds with nuclear medicines, body scanner, surgical suite, cardiac unit, and ICU. Semi-private rooms are $72/day.
June 1993- Construction continues on a new $40-million-dollar complex on Bee Ridge Road. The new hospital was built to offer more services and be closer to the growing populations near I-75.
January 1995-Crowds line up to tour the newly constructed Doctors Hospital of Sarasota. The new five-story hospital building and 100,000 square foot medical office building open to continue to serve the community
