Diagnostic Imaging & Radiology
An impressive array of modern diagnostic imaging services is available at Doctors Hospital of Sarasota. The first is our Spiral Computerized Tomography (C.T.) Scanner, which is the first of its kind in Sarasota and Manatee counties. It takes three dimensional images of the body providing the most specific diagnostic information available. We also offer ultrasound, digital interventional and routine radiology procedures. Additionally, we now offer a new Angiography or special procedures room for the diagnosis of vascular problems. This new technology will enhance the physicians' ability to more clearly and accurately diagnose vascular problems such as blood clots, poor circulation, etc. This is accomplished using the life-size images our Multi Diagnost 3 System can now provide.
Examinations are ordered by your physician and performed by registered technologists. The examination is interpreted by a radiologist, who is a physician skilled in the study of x-rays. If you have an x-ray taken, the hospital will include a charge for x-ray to cover the use of the equipment. You also will receive a separate bill from the radiologist for interpretative services. The Diagnostic Imaging Department is located on the first floor of the hospital.
A vast and diversified array of image guided therapies including balloon angioplasties, vascular access, blood clot thrombolysis, tumor and bleeding embolization, AV fistula care, vertebroplasty, and gastrostomy placements, to name a few, are performed by our interventional radiology team.
If your primary physician is requesting an MRI, digital mammogram, a ct scan, x-ray, ultrasound, breast biopsy, fluoroscopy, echocardiogram or ekg (electrocardiogram) you can also visit our nearby diagnostic imaging center, Total Imaging Centers, located in Sun City and Brandon.
