Doctors Hospital of Sarasota Earns ‘Top Performer on Key Quality Measures’ from the Joint Commission
Sarasota, FL - Doctors Hospital of Sarasota was named one of the nation’s top performers on key quality measures for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America. Doctors Hospital was recognized by The Joint Commission based on data reported about evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions.
Doctors Hospital is one of only 405 hospitals earning the distinction of top performer on key quality measures for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance and is the only hospital to earn this distinction in the Sarasota/Manatee area. To be recognized as a top performer on key quality measures an organization must meet 95 percent or more on performance thresholds on accountability measure data. Doctors Hospital was recognized for achieving these performance thresholds for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care.
“Today, the public expects transparency in the reporting of performance at the hospitals where they receive care, and The Joint Commission is shining a light on the top performing hospitals such as South Bay Hospital that have achieved excellence on a number of vital measures of quality of care,” says Mark R. Chassin, M.D., FACP, M.P.P., M.P.H, President, The Joint Commission.
“We appreciate being the recipient of this acknowledgement of high quality patient care outcomes,” says Kathy Mitchell, Chief Nursing Officer at Doctors Hospital of Sarasota. “Doctors Hospital’s success is a direct result of the commitment hospital leadership, physicians and staff give to providing ‘best practice’ interventions to our patients. From the devoted team that meets daily to review all patient admissions with respect to their individual diagnosis and the highest standards of care, to our bedside caregivers who provide this care, we are proud to be recognized for the high quality care we provide to our community.”
