Sarasota, FL - Valerie Powell-Stafford, FACHE, Chief Operating Officer, Doctors Hospital of Sarasota, has been appointed to the Council of Regents, the legislative body of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). The Council of Regents serves as the vital link between ACHE and affiliates by approving governance and membership regulations as well as promoting ACHE programs, services and activities within their respective areas.
Powell-Stafford will take office at the Council of Regents meeting March 17, 2012, during ACHE’s 55th Congress on Healthcare Leadership at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. As a Regent-at-Large, Powell-Stafford will represent ACHE’s membership in Florida, Puerto Rico, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, Virginia, and Washington, DC.
Powell-Stafford has served as Chief Operating Officer of Doctors Hospital of Sarasota since 2009. Prior to this position, she was Assistant Administrator of Community Hospital, New Port Richey, FL.
Board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, Powell-Stafford serves on the Board of Governors Examination Committee and is a Board Member of the Western Florida Chapter of ACHE. She also is a board member of the Sarasota/Manatee American Heart Association.
Powell-Stafford received her master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, and her bachelor’s degree from the Indiana University, Bloomington, IN.
